Feb 15, 2022: The Karachi Kings were knocked out of the title race of the seventh edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) on Monday after their seventh consecutive defeat, which was handed over to them by Islamabad United.

In the 21st match of the ongoing tournament at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, United defeated Kings by 1 run. Karachi’s hopes of winning the match and remaining in the title race were raised after a late 108-run cameo by Imad Wasim and Qasim Akram but they too died in the last over when Imad was dismissed by Waqas Maqsood.

Earlier, Islamabad United gave a target of 192 runs for the loss of seven wickets to Karachi Kings when they were invited to bat first. It was an all-round performance by the Islamabad United batsmen as they all batted after a slow start to the game. Islamabad United’s top scorer was Shadab Khan who scored 34 off 26 balls before being bowled by Emad Wasim. Asif Ali and Fahim Ashraf also played useful innings down the order, Asif scored 28 and Fahim 29 runs.

Emad Wasim was the Kings’ stand-out bowler as he took two wickets for 30 runs in four overs. Karachi remain without points after seven matches in the ongoing tournament, and United now has 8 points and is at 3rd place in the points table. Lahore Qalandar retains there place at number two.
