Feb 11, 2022: Lahore Qalandars will today aim to break the unbeaten run of Multan Sultans, defending champions at their home ground in the 17th match of the seventh edition of the HBL PSL.

The two sides are facing each other for the second time in PSL 2022. Muhammad Rizwan and Sharik defeated all other teams in the ongoing tournament – Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, Quetta Gladiators, Peshawar Zalmi, and Islamabad United – and became the first team to qualify for the playoffs.

The heroics of Khushdal Shah’s last over led the Sultans to a nail-biting victory as they hit four boundaries – three fours and a six – against Shaheen Shah Afridi’s Qalandars. The Sultans needed 16 of six runs to win against the Qalandars and reach the target of 207 runs. At the same time, Khushdal accused and punished fast bowler Harris Rauf. Captain Mohammad Rizwan and Shan Masood had already laid the foundation by scoring unbeaten half-centuries.

Rizwan made 69 off 42 balls in his captain’s innings, while Khushdil, who was a sensation with the ball, took the opening wicket and took a total of two important wickets, Abdullah Shafiq and Mohammad Hafeez.

Qalandar’s bowlers could not perform significantly in the early overs. However, they gained momentum in the last five, leaving back-to-back wickets behind. Defending champions Multan Sultans were playing their seventh match today and are top of the points table with 12 points.

Lahore Qalandars on the other hand have so far played five matches and won three. They have six points on the table.

The match will take place under the lights of Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore at 7:30pm.
