Health authorities raise alarm demanding complete lockdown

Lahore, 9th April: With the increasing number of coronavirus patients in Punjab, health authorities have once again raised an alarm in the province.

Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department Secretary Nabeel Awan raised an alarm on Friday that the number of coronavirus patients in Punjab is increasing rapidly.

Awan has said that the number of COVID patients in hospitals has increased in the last four weeks with over 8,000 patients admitted to hospitals in the last few days.

Awan is afraid that the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic won’t stop. He expressed that the patient capacity in hospitals has increased in hospitals.

Awan informed that the Punjab health department had proposed a complete lockdown to the government but the government had denied doing so at this stage.

According to the latest reports on Friday, in the last 24 hours, 105 more deaths were reported taking the national death toll to 15, 229 in the country.

As per reports from the official data from the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) about 5,312 new cases were reported in the country taking the total tally to 710,829.
