Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on Wednesday conferred the Kingdom’s highest civilian honor, the Order of Bahrain (First Class), upon visiting Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at a special ceremony held at Sakhir Palace.

The decoration, typically reserved for heads of state and government, was bestowed in recognition of Sharif’s contributions to strengthening bilateral relations and his role in promoting regional peace and cooperation.

During delegation-level talks preceding the investiture, the two leaders reviewed the entire spectrum of Pakistan-Bahrain ties and explored new avenues for collaboration in trade, investment, energy, education, health, and security sectors.

King Hamad praised Pakistan’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and reiterated Bahrain’s commitment to deepen economic and defense partnerships. Prime Minister Sharif thanked the Bahraini monarch for the honor and the warm hospitality, describing the award as a reflection of the “deep-rooted fraternal ties” between the two nations.

Earlier upon arrival at Bahrain International Airport, Sharif was received by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The Pakistani premier is accompanied by a high-level delegation including federal ministers and senior officials.

The conferment of the Order of Bahrain (First Class) marks the latest milestone in growing Pakistan-Gulf Cooperation Council engagement, with recent high-level exchanges underscoring shared interests in economic diversification and regional stability.
