ISLAMABAD: Hum Awam Pakistan Party has approached the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for the symbol of the bat. 

According to reports, the Hum Awam Pakistan party has applied to get a new symbol for the upcoming elections – the bat. The party secretary general is likely to apply again today, for the allotment of the election symbol.

On 22nd December, the ECP announced its decision to take back the symbol of the bat from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) led by former Prime Minister Imran Khan. A decision that the PTI administration is planning to contest in court. However, Tehreek-e-Insaaf has yet to receive a copy of the ECP’s decision due to which they cannot contest without delay.

The PTI has expressed fears that if the certified copy of the ECP decision is not attached to their application, it may get rejected by the court. Legal counsel for the party Barrister Zafar, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, and Hamid Khan will decide where and when to apply against the ECP’s decision after consultation.
