Human Rights Commission and notable personalities saddened over the death of I A Rehman

Lahore, 12th April: Human Rights Advocate I A Rehman passes away in Lahore at the age of 90.

According to Baaghi TV’s reports, IA Rehman who was also a  columnist from Dawn News has passed away in Lahore on Monday.

According to reports, his funeral will be held at Masjid Al Quds A-1 Society Township near LRBT hospital after Isha prayers today.

According to the details from his family, Rehman was diabetic and was suffering from high blood pressure.

He was the director of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP), who contributed a lot in raising awareness about rights and fundamental freedom.

Notable celebrities have expressed condolences over the demise of such a legendary person.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said Pakistan has lost a true icon.

Qureshi tweeted, “Pakistan has lost a true icon today with the passing of I.A. Rehman. A staunch advocate and activist for Human Rights and an intellectual, I A Rehman sahib leaves behind a rich legacy that speaks of tolerance, inclusion, equality and dignity.”

Human Rights Commission of Pakistan expressed grief over the passing away of a titan of human rights.

HRCP wrote, “#IARehman, HRCP’s honorary spokesperson, former secretary-general and veteran journalist has passed away. A titan of human rights, Mr Rehman’s integrity, conscience and compassion were unparalleled.”

Renowned anchorperson Mubasher Lucman also consoled the death of the senior colleague.

Lucman tweeted, “Very sad to hear the legendary I A Rahman saheb is no more. He was an iconic journalist and human rights, campaigner. RIP sir.”

It is to be noted that his wife passed away in 2015, together they had 3 sons and two daughters.
