Afghanistan: Ghani blames ‘abrupt’ US exit for worsening security

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has claimed that he was the one who asked US President Donald Trump to leave Afghanistan, two years ago.

In a statement, the Afghan President stated that the Taliban were responsible for the current violence in the country in which 200 to 600 people were being killed each day.

He went on to say that the Taliban should be asked who they are fighting for now and who will benefit from it.

It is to be noted that recently, US President Joe Biden announced that he would withdraw all troops from Afghanistan, expressing his desire of not wanting to send another generation of American youth to fight outside of the land. The Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin also blamed the US for creating the problems in Afghanistan, stating that now solving Afghani problems was the US’s responsibility. A short while ago, the Taliban took over the Afghan territory of Islam Qala in the province of Herat, which borders Iran. As it stands, they have taken over more than 50% of the region. The Taliban, in a press conference in Moscow, however, stated that that land won’t be used against anyone.
