I love Oreo! | Baaghi TV

Oreo looks nothing like an Oreo. She’s white, fluffy, with almond shaped beautiful eyes. If you have not guessed already, Oreo is a dog. She came to us when she was just a few weeks old. My husband, a dog lover was very ill. We did not know it then, but he had cancer. It was in Pindi.

My kids were in Lahore with their ageing grandmother. They both decided to get a home coming gift for their father. Little did they know, baba will never be coming home again!!

My son purchased him, both pooling their pocket money to 5000 rupees. Unfortunately, their baba passed away in Pindi. Once we returned to Lahore, the kids asked me to come outside in the lawn. Out stumbled Oreo on her wobbly legs, promptly flopping on her belly from an open cardboard box.

The kids so desperately wanted to keep her. The beseeching look in their eyes pulled at my heart I had to agree.

When Oreo was three years old, it was raining hard, a guard was leaving for vacations, one she was fond of. Unseen, in the darkness & rain, she slipped out in an effort to follow his uber rickshaw. She was missing for 2 days. I was hit hard. Every day I would roam in the streets of the locality, checking every garbage dump & calling her name in desperation. Tears flowing freely, the grief of losing my husband came rushing to the surface. I could not bear the thought of never seeing Oreo again too.

She is a wonderful watchdog. My house is generally known as the “mad dog house.”

She is nine and a half years now. A few days ago she developed a cough. The vet gave her a shot & prescribed antibiotics for week. He delivered a lethal blow by saying at her age such ailments happen. It broke my heart. I made his life miserable by questioning the interpretation of every word. I kept on telling him, “You see my husband died too, she cannot die on me.” It took my daughter a long time to calm me down.

I know the dog lovers will understand.
