ICC World Cup 2019: West Indies thrashed Afghanistan by 23 runs.

In the 42nd ODI of ICC World Cup, West Indies beat Afghanistan by 23 runs at Headingley Carnegie. It was Afghanistan ninth defeat in a row.

According to reports of Baaghitv, West Indies won the toss and decided to bat first. West Indies scored 311 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Shai Hope top scored for West Indies. He played a fine innings of 77 runs. Evin Lewis and Nicholas Pooran scored 58 runs each. Dawlat Zadran picked 2 wickets in his 9 overs for Afghanistan. Muhammad Nabi, Rashid Khan and Sayed Shirzad picked up a wicket each for Afghanistan.

Chasing a target of 312, Afghanistan was bowled out on 288 runs in their 50 overs. Ikram Ali Khil top scored for Afghanistan. He played brilliant innings of 86 runs.  Sayed Shirzad was the last man out on last ball of match bowled by Thomas. Rehmat Shah played fighting innings of 60 runs. Carlos Brathwate picked up 4 wickets. Kemar Roach picked up 3 wickets.

Shai Hope was awarded man of the match award for playing excellent innings 77 of 92 deliveries.
