Supreme Court to take up PTI leader Vawda’s plea against disqualification today

Lahore, 3rd March: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has reportedly declared PTI’s Faisal Vawda ineligible in the disqualification case.

Baaghi TV: According to reports, IHC ruled on Wednesday that it could not disqualify Water Resources Minister Faisal Vawda as the PTI leader had already resigned from his National Assembly seat earlier.

Islamabad High Court Justice Amir Farooq has issued a 13-page written verdict. In the judgment, the apex court said that Faisal Wawda could not be disqualified due to his resignation.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has said that the affidavit submitted by Faisal Wawda to the Election Commission is apparently false.

It may be recalled that the Islamabad High Court had today reserved its decision on a petition seeking disqualification of Faisal Vawda for concealing dual citizenship.

Faisal Vawda’s lawyer appeared in court today and said that his client had resigned as a member of the National Assembly, after which his disqualification application became ineffective. He also tendered his resignation from the assembly.

On the other hand, sources said that the Speaker of the National Assembly Chamber did not receive the resignation of Faisal Wawda and did not reach the Legislative Department of the National Assembly.

Sources said that according to the rules if the resignation reaches the speaker, it is confirmed, but Faisal Vawda neither met the speaker and nor his resignation was not confirmed.

So when the resignation was not received, how can it be accepted?
