Imran Khan deserves appreciation: Foreign Minister

Lahore, 16th April: Shah Mehmood Qureshi congratulates the Prime Minister Imran Khan on successfully taking a fourth global step and getting debt relief for the country during the pandemic crisis.

 

According to reports of Baaghi TV, Foreign Minister, Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that debt relief will come into effect from 1st May, and this relief is from all global countries.

External Affairs Minister Shah Mehmud Qureshi said that Prime Minister Imran Khan addressed the world and the UN. PM Khan said that the whole world is adversely affected by the pandemic, and the developed countries are the most hit by it.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi further quoted the Prime Minister, saying that he knows what impact Corona will have on Pakistan’s economy, the income of developing countries is decreasing and the costs are rising. Of course, developed countries will benefit from debt relief.

The strategy was laid out in the Foreign Office, where Ministers, including Hamad Azhar, Hafiz Sheikh and Asad Umer were also invited. They talked to Prime Minister Imran Khan on the plan, the Prime Minister said that there is a risk but we should take this step. The Prime Minister initiated his appeal from the 12th of April.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi further said that the UN Secretary General and the MD IMF have appreciated the Prime Minister’s appeal. G20 countries have decided to give relief loans to 76 countries.

The PTI government has taken the fourth global step and the Prime Minister has raised a global voice against climate change, Islamophobia and corruption.

According to Qureshi, Antonio Guterres had also said that the debt relief will be effective from the 1st of May from all global countries.

Answering a question, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that due to the government’s efforts the country has achieved the debt relief, the details of which will be known to everyone in the near future.

He informed in his press conference that 76 countries got relief. Experts believe that the global economy is down to 30%. It is unlikely that Europe will be affected and Pakistan can’t be. Due to coronavirus, the world has lost 3% of the economy with a difference of 9 trillion dollars.

He informed that the government has formed a parliamentary committee, the Prime Minister also constituted a National Coordination Committee to keep a check on the coronavirus situation countrywide. This committee comprises of four provincial chief ministers, and the CMs of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir are also a part of this endeavor.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi further said that the present government’s agenda is to look after everyone, especially in the time of crisis.
