In line of duty: Lahore police official meets martyrdom

LAHORE: A policeman Friday met martyrdom when unidentified motorcyclists opened fire at Bhati Gate area.

Policeman Ramzan was seriously injured in the firing and was shifted to hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries later.

The policeman signaled to stop the suspicious motorcycle and was fired upon by the suspect sitting on the back of the motorcycle.

Policeman Ramzan was shot in the shoulder and leg, sources said.

Police sources said that search for the fugitive suspects was on and a blockade had been set up.

Separately, another sources said that
Police employee Ramzan 9268 / C who was posted at Data Darbar police station was on duty along with two of his fellow police personnel who signaled to stop two unidentified persons on suspicion and the suspects opened fire.

The source said  a passerby named Javed came under fire and was injured.
He was rushed to the hospital on his own.  The sources said when the culprits were chased fearing arrest, they approached the main Bazaar Bhati Gate near Lajpal store and opened fire on a police party.

An FIR has also been registered by the Data Darbar Police Station against the unidentified person.
