LAHORE: India said early Wednesday it had launched a military operation against Pakistan.

India alleged it hit “terrorist infrastructure” in both Pakistan and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K), in a major escalation of tensions between the two neighbours.

India termed it “Operation Sindoor”, launched in the aftermaths of Pahalgam attack. “Our actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted. India has demonstrated considerable restraint in selection of targets and method of execution,” Indian Ministry of Defence stated.

In response, Pakistan has shot down two fighter planes and retaliated by attacking India.

According to security sources, Pakistan has launched missile attacks on India in self-defense. Heavy firing is also ongoing on the Line of Control.
