Baaghi TV: According to Indian media, a man in Indian Punjab’s Kapurthala state tried to remove the Sikh religious flag Nishan Sahib, local police arrested the accused but enraged mob killed the man despite being in police custody.

It is to be noted that this was the second incident during 24 hours on Sunday whereby a person was extrajudicially killed for desecrating a Sikh holy place.

According to reports, due to these incidents, the situation in Indian Punjab is quite tense.

The Supreme Leader of Sikhs Shri Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh, has said that Shri Sach Khand Sahib is the heart of Sikhs. If anyone thinks they can disgrace Sikhs and leave peaceful, they are at fault. A few days earlier, the pages of a small holy book were desecrated. These incidents are being termed as a conspiracy by the Indian political parties regarding the upcoming elections in Punjab.

Sikh leaders say that if those accused of desecrating Sikh holy places had been punished in the past, people might not have taken the law into their own hands today.

While expressing regret over these incidents, the Chief of Police of Indian Punjab said that no one will be allowed to take the law into their own hands and if people are found doing so, they will be dealt with severely. Both incidents have been registered but the identity of both murdered men has not been disclosed yet.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee has also condemned incidents of desecration of Sikh holy places in India and demanded from the Indian government to expose the elements behind these incidents. The Indian Sikhs have also requested international Sikh community to formulate a joint strategy on the issue.
