An Indian Army Major posted along the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district died after falling ill, officials said.
The officer identified as Major Apraant Raunaq Singh, a native of Uttar Pradesh, fell ill at his post in the Nowgam sector on Friday and was airlifted to the Army’s 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar. He, however, succumbed during treatment.
The Srinagar-based Chinar Corps said that the officer, who was awarded the Sena Medal in 2022, “died in the line of duty.”
Singh had earlier served in Kulgam district, where he was involved in an encounter in 2021.
