Instagram launches the first-of-its-kind filter for Emirati passport holders to celebrate the Golden Jubilee

Social media giant Instagram has launched a festive filter for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) passport holders to mark the 50th anniversary of the country.

Instagram, in partnership with the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MOFAIC), developed the filter for Emirati passport holders, making UAE the first country to have this filter on the social networking site. The Instagram filter was created using augmented reality technology, to coincide with the UAE’s golden jubilee celebrations.

To activate the filter, users can point the camera at their passport cover, showing colourful clips, the golden 50 hologram, and the UAE national anthem.
