Interior Minister says 15 terrorists killed in Balochistan’s Naushki and Panjgur #Baaghi

Feb 3, 2022: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid has said that a total of 15 terrorists were killed after the attack on security forces camps in Noshki and Panjgur in Balochistan on Wednesday night.

In a video message posted on his Twitter handle, the minister said that the terrorists attacked the camps of the security forces which were successfully repulsed by the Pakistan Army soldiers and the terrorists suffered heavy casualties.

“Nine terrorists in Balochistan’s Naushki and six in Panjgur were killed by the Pakistan Army soldiers. Four soldiers also lost their lives in Naushki attack,” Rashid said.

He further said that four to five terrorists are currently under siege by Pakistan Army in Panjgur. The Minister also commended the Pakistan Army personnel for repelling the terrorist attack.

Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan had also lauded the Pakistan Army personnel and said that the nation was “standing behind our security forces who have made great sacrifices for our protection”.

In a statement on Wednesday, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said both attacks were successfully foiled and the terrorists suffered heavy casualties. Armed assailants targeted two security posts hours apart in remote areas of Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province, triggering gun battles that killed at least four attackers and a soldier according to the ISPR.

Hours later, assailants tried to sneak into a security camp in the Naushki district, nearly 500 km (300 miles) to the north, but troops foiled the attempt and killed four attackers. One soldier was also wounded in the attack, the military said.

The military’s media wing said, “In Panjgur, terrorists tried to enter security forces camp from 2 locations. However, timely response by troops foiled the terrorist attempt.”

“During intense exchange of fire one soldier has been martyred.”

The ISPR added that the terrorists tried to enter the Frontier Corps (FC) camp, to which “immediate response” was given. Four terrorists were killed. The statement added that one officer was injured during the exchange of fire and that “the firing continued intermittently.” The outlawed Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for the attacks in a statement.

The Balochistan Nationalist Army was established when two minor separatist groups – the Balochistan Republican Army and the United Baloch Army – merged.

The latest violence comes a week after armed fighters killed 10 Pakistan army soldiers in an attack on a security post in the town of Kech in Balochistan province.
