Iranian nuclear scientist assassinated near Tehran

An Iranian nuclear scientist has been assassinated near Tehran, according to unconfirmed reports. Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, a top Iranian scientist, assassinated near Tehran, Press TV, an Iranian international news network said in a tweet. Morad News reported that Fakhrizadeh had survived another assassination attempt years ago.

According to the Iranian Front-Page reported that Fakhrizadeh and his bodyguard were killed in the Absard region of Davamand. Fakhrizadeh was a high-profile figure in Iran’s political/ strategic circles and was a professor of Physics at the Imam Hussein University. He was also a senior scientist at the Iranian Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces Logistics.

While there has been no official confirmation on his assassination yet, reports, citing Iran’s revolutionary guards’ commander suggested that Iran has vowed to avenge the killings of the scientist, ‘as it has in the past’.
