Jahangir Tareen’s son contacts the FIA

Lahore, 18th September: FIA starts an investigation against PTI leader Jahangir Tareen and his son, Ali Tareen.
According to the report of Baaghi TV, Ali Tareen has contacted the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and has written a letter asking to give him time to answer all the questions.
Earlier, his lawyers appeared before the FIA on behalf of Jahangir Tareen. Advocate Maqsood Ahmad Malhi said that he would submit the reply of Jahangir Tareen and Ali Tareen tomorrow.
Hamza Shehbaz shifted to a hospital
Jahangir Tareen and his family are accused of making billions from the illegal sale of sugar. He was directed to appear before the FIA Lahore in this regard but Tareen’s family resides in London due to which he could not appear before the FIA.
The notice issued by the FIA said that Jahangir Tareen and Ali Tareen should appear in person. The investigation team is investigating 4 major allegations against Jahangir Tareen.
Jahangir Tareen is accused of corporate fraud of more than Rs 15 billion. The notice directed to bring along all the necessary documents. These allegations were levelled against Jahangir Tareen by the Sugar Commission in its report.
Summons notice issued for Jahangir Tareen
Details have been sought from Jahangir Tareen regarding the investment of Rs 3.10 billion in Farooqi Pulp Limited, an inactive company of JDW. The joint investigation team has also been asked to provide details of the transfer of Rs 7 billion from Jahangir Tareen to JDW’s Dharki Sugar Mill.
It is to be noted that the inquiry committee set up on the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan on the sugar crisis has revealed in its report that the six groups have taken the form of mafia and it affects the prices of sugar.
FIA, SECP starts investigation of Jahangir Tareen’s assets
According to the report of the committee, the six groups have a 51% share of the total sugar production and they can influence the market by joining hands. The control of a few people over sugar production, and most of them with a political background, shows how they can influence policy and administration.
The six sugar mills of Jahangir Tareen’s group produce 19.97% of the GDP of the country.
Makhdoom Omar Shehryar, a relative of Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar, owns six sugar mills in the RYK group and produces 12.24% sugar.
PIA gets permission for more flights to KSA
Al-Muez Group’s 5 sugar mills produce 6.80% sugar and Tandlianwala group’s 3 sugar mills produce 4.90% sugar.
Omni Group, a close associate of former President Asif Ali Zardari, has 10 sugar mills and they produce 1.66% sugar, and 9 sugar mills of Sharif family produce 4.54% sugar.
