Friday, July 3rd: According to the report of Baaghi TV, the Occupied Jammu and Kashmir Administration on Friday arrested the spokesman of the banned Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir Senior Advocate Zahid Ali once again under the Public Safety Act.

The dossier filed against Zahid Ali by the Occupied Jammu and Kashmir Police claimed that Zahid Ali was close to separatist leader Syed Ali Gilani and former Jamaat-e-Islami president Ghulam Muhammad Butt. He has been found involved in anti-national activities. He has been constantly raising slogans against India and in favor of Kashmir’s independence as well as inciting the people to throw stones at the security forces.

Zahid Ali was arrested from his residence in Naima area of Pulwama district of south Kashmir on the 30th of last month, a senior officer of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir Police told South Asian Wire. After which a case was registered against him under PSA and he has been shifted to Srinagar Central Jail.

Ali’s family says all the allegations against Zahid Ali are as baseless as the previous ones. He was also arrested under the PSA last year. The court later ruled that the allegations were baseless and ordered his release. “The charges against him are not new,” he said. The same reasons were stated in previous arrest warrants. The district administration is taking these steps beyond thinking. We will once again knock on the door of the Supreme Court in this regard as Ali’s arrest is not only illegal but also baseless given in the detention order.

This was not the first time Ali had been detained under the PIC. Earlier, they were detained on March 22 last year, after which the Interior Ministry declared Jamaat-e-Islami a banned organization. The Interior Ministry said Jamaat-e-Islami promotes militant activities in the valley. However, Zahid Ali was released on April 11 this year after receiving a clean chit from the court.

It is to be noted that Jamaat-e-Islami in occupied Kashmir has been banned by the Government of India and all its offices have been closed. A notification has been issued by the government in Occupied Kashmir stating that on February 28, Jamaat-e-Islami was banned in Occupied Kashmir and the Liberation Front was banned on March 22, so no government employee in Occupied Kashmir should have any contact with these two organizations. Nor should any of these organizations participate in any activity, program. If any Kashmiri is found to be associated with these two organizations, legal action will be taken against them.
