Joe Biden Orders Release of Confidential 9/11 Documents

US president Joe Biden has ordered the release of confidential documents related to the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Tower, signing the order to begin the 6-month process of making those documents available to the world.

According to foreign news agency Al Jazeera, American president Joe Biden has directed the justice department and other agencies to begin the 6-month process of releasing documents related to the FBI’s investigation into the September 11, 2001 attacks.

In a statement, President Biden urged the Department of Justice and other agencies to monitor the documents’ release.

Joe Biden said, “We must not forget the pain of the families of 2,977 innocent people, who were killed in the worst terrorist attack in United States history.”

This move came just days before the 20th anniversary of the Al-Qaeda attacks, with first respondents and relatives of the about 3,000 victims writing strong notes to the president. They accused the United States government of deliberately keeping the documents locked away – stating that they were assisted by the Saudi government who had assisted Al-Qaeda attackers.

Biden said in a statement on Friday, “I pledged to ensure transparency about the documents regarding the terrorist attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001. As we approach the 20th anniversary of this tragic day, I am honoring this commitment.”

He further said, “Today, I signed an executive order directing the department of justice and other relevant agencies to monitor the non-classified review of documents related to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) September 11 investigation,” The executive order calls on the attorney general to publicly release the declassified documents over the next six months.
