According to Baaghi TV, the court has sentenced a journalist to 2 years in prison for publishing false news, concerning COVID-19.
The incident took place in Abu Dhabi, where a federal court has sentenced a local TV reporter to two years in prison for broadcasting false news about Corona virus.
A local TV reporter, broadcast the deaths of five members of the same family from the corona virus, aided by a foreigner from an Arab country. There was a lot of panic in the society due to the inaccurate news, which was denied by the Ministry of Health, including a lawsuit being filed against the reporter and the foreigner.
The court also issued deportation orders for the foreigners, with the two being sentenced to 2 years in prison on false information. An appeal was filed against the preliminary court decision. The Federal Court of Appeals reviewed the case and upheld the sentence, upholding the former court’s decision.
It should be noted that while strict measures are being taken to curb the spread of Corona virus in the UAE, the public is being told that SOPs are being violated. They are being fined.
