Kabul Blast: 13 civilians and U.S personnel among the casualties
26th August: According to a spokesman for the US Department of Defense, there have been 2 explosions at Kabul airport, reportingly 13 people are killed and several others injured.
“We can confirm that the explosion at the Abbey Gate was the result of a complex attack that resulted in a number of US & civilian casualties,” Pentagon press secretary John Kirby said on Twitter. “We can also confirm at least one other explosion at or near the Baron Hotel, a short distance from Abbey Gate. We will continue to update.”
For weeks Pentagon was speculating on terrorist attacks. Now, the U.S intelligence operatives also suspect that the attacks were executed by ISIS-K.
Furthermore, U.S President Joe Biden postpones his meeting with the Israeli PM following the Kabul situation. President Joe Biden met with his national security team this morning, including Secretary Antony Blinken, Secretary Lloyd Austin, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley, and commanders on the ground regarding the latest developments in Kabul, according to the White House.
On the contrary, the Taliban spokesman condemns the Kabul airport blast. Taliban spokesman Sohail Shaheen has strongly condemned the Kabul airport blast.
