Kanpur, India: Zika Virus outbreak affects up to 89 people
Kanpur, India: The Indian city of Kanpur is facing an outbreak of Zika virus cases in which at least 89 active cases have been confirmed.
The city is facing a dangerous outbreak of Zika virus and there are about 17 children among the affected citizens. This virus causes children to be born with severely under-developed brain.
According to Kanpur district’s Chief medical officer, Dr. Nepal Singh, Zika virus cases are increasing in the region and that the health department has formed many teams to counter this situation. He said officials are paying special attention to a pregnant woman that has been tested positive for the disease. Kanpur encountered its first case on 23 October and many cases have arisen ever since.
Indian Authorities claim that this is their first time encountering this disease although this disease has been reported in India beforehand.
