Karachi: A fire broke out in a factory, engulfing two more factories

KARACHI: A fire broke out in an industrial factory in Landhi area of ​​Quaid-e-Azam city to such an extent that two more factories were also engulfed in it.

According to sources, the fire at the Landhi factory was declared third degree. Fire brigade officials said the fire also engulfed two more factories.

According to fire brigade officials, 2 factories were completely burnt down. Efforts are being made to contain the fire by breaking down the walls, while a third factory has been affected by 25 per cent so far. The three factories are three storeys high and are built side by side.

Fire brigade officials are fighting the blaze with the help of ten vehicles and a snorkel. Given the severity of the fire, it was reported that the rescue operation could take several hours to complete. In case of fire, goods worth crores of rupees have been burnt to ashes.

On the other hand, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took notice of the fire in Kalandhi factory and directed the rescue agencies to save the lives of the factory workers at all costs. If more fire tenders are needed to put out the fire, help from other agencies should be sought immediately.

The Sindh Chief Minister directed the concerned authorities to complete the investigation and send the report.

According to the spokesman of Sindh Rangers, after the fire broke out in the factories located in Landhi Processing Zone, Rangers have reached the spot and have taken part in extinguishing the fire including rescue operations.

A Rangers spokesman said workers at the factory had been evacuated, while waterboard hydrants and more fire brigade vehicles had been called.

A spokesman for the Export Processing Zone said there were no employees at the factory on Sunday due to the holiday. A fire broke out in the packing factory, which also engulfed the clothing factory. Fire tenders of processing zone, Port Qasim, KMC are engaged in extinguishing the fire. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
