Karachi Flood: Rain continues to create difficulties for residents

Continuous rains in Karachi have raised difficulties for residents of the port city. 

According to reports of Baaghi TV, rain showers continued across Karachi and escalated the situation for the residents. Six people trapped in Korangi river were evacuated safely, due to heavy rains for 2 days, cracks appeared in many places in Malir river, Dada Bhai Town and Sikhan river dam broke. Water entered different areas and houses, while power was lost in many areas.

It rained in areas including Baloch Colony, Shahra-e-Faisal, Nursery, PECHS, Ferozeabad, Mahmoodabad, Cantt Station, Qayyumabad, Defense, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Liaquatabad, Nazimabad. Six people were trapped in the Korangi Kazwe River. Edhi volunteers evacuated everyone, including a policeman.

Heavy rains wreak havoc in Karachi

Dams on the Sikhan River were breached, water reached Arafat Town, Madina Colony, Khaldabad, Marghi Khana and the National Highway, while water also entered several houses. The National Highway was closed to traffic as a precautionary measure. Traffic on National Highway was diverted to Malir.

According to reports, Education Minister Saeed Ghani also reached the area and said that the lock was not broken, only the door was broken, the flow of water was stopped by installing a gate, machinery started working to extract water away from the population.

Earlier, the Sindh Education Minister visited different areas of Karachi, posted videos of University Road, Abu Al Hassan Isfahani Road, Gulistan-e-Jauhar area being cleared, Stargate, Munawar Suhrawardy underpass, nursery, metro pool videos were also posted. According to reports, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that all possible help should be given to the aggrieved citizens in Karachi.

Karachi Flood: Relief effort by Army personnel continues

According to Pakistan Army Public Relations (ISPR), the Army Chief directed the Corps Commander Karachi to ensure all possible assistance in Quaid-e-Azam city. Help young people reach the affected areas immediately.

General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that troops should reach out to remote areas and help the victims, all possible help should be given to the distressed citizens. Several areas were affected, with Army engineers working on the M9 highway.
