Aug 5, 2021: In Karachi, the main accused in the rape and murder of a minor girl in Korangi area of the city has confessed to the crime.

“I abducted the girl (six years old) on July 27 and later killed her out of fear,” accused Zakir alias Antola said on Wednesday when she was produced before a judicial magistrate in Karachi. The accused further claimed that after raping and killing the girl, he threw her body on the rubbish heap. The magistrate remanded Zakir in judicial custody after he pleaded guilty.

The girl’s body was found wrapped in a thick mat around 6 a.m. last Wednesday in the Korangi area of Karachi. According to investigators, the girl’s autopsy revealed that she had been abused and had her neck broken.

Zakir, who claimed to be intoxicated at the time of the incident, told police that he put the girl in a rickshaw at 11:30 pm and then was out for an hour.

He said he brought the girl to the Sunday Bazaar Ground in Korangi at around 12:30 a.m.

According to the statement made to the police, the girl was still alive and semi-conscious after he assaulted her.

“Suddenly she jumped and broke her neck,” he told police.

The accused confessed that he had thrown the girl in the rubbish heap, after which he went home and told his wife that he was busy providing a ride to a customer.
