Karachi July 17 (Online Int’l): President of Textile Plaza Owners Association (TPOA) Muhammad Akram Rana has said that the resources of Karachi have been captured while no one is ready to resolve the problems of Karachi. Karachi is the backbone of Pakistan’s economy and the key income generator for the entire nation as well as the country but due to deliberate negligence the textile industry has reached the end of complete destruction.
Talking to a delegation of businessmen, Akram Rana criticized K-Electric (KE) and condemned its performance. KE has no stone left unturned to destroy the textile sector because of unannounced and unjustified long load-shedding in industrial zones.
He said the majority of the world has not only trust in the Pakistani textile industry but also enjoys our raw and ready products but unluckily and unfortunately because of the worst trade policies and no concentration of public and government officials, the KE is not ready to provide continuous electricity to industries and only takes a heavy amount from traders and industrialists.
There are no challans for installation of new meters while a heavy amount is being charged in monthly bills and other fake heads, and in these circumstance the government did not provide any relief to textile mills owners as given to others, and due to strict SOPs, monopolies of ‘irrelevant characters’ and continued coronavirus pandemic, the textile business has decreased up to 60 percent and where dozens of workers were employed, now only 2 to 3 labourers are working because of anti-trade & export policies and the worst performance and poorest KE services especially 12 to 14 hours long load-shedding and unnecessary SOPs’ restrictions.
President Akram Rana demanded authorities, particularly PM Imran Khan, to take immediate action to safeguard the textile industry and announce a special relief package for textile industry as well as its owners and pass the orders against those responsible for the destruction.
