Karakoram Highway is now opened for all kinds of traffic
According to the report of Baaghi TV, Karakoram motorway is now open to all types of traffic.
The landslide-affected Karakoram Highway has been restored, according to DG ISPR. The roadway in Gilgit-Baltistan was closed owing to landslides caused by heavy rainfall. The tireless efforts of the FWO From Tatta Pani to Rai Kot, the highway was closed due to mudslides and mudslides in 20 locations.
Despite severe weather and tough geography, FWO continued to work 24 hours a day, according to DG ISPR.
According to the ISPR, the highway in Gilgit Baltistan was blocked on Tuesday due to rainfall, and it was halted at 20 spots between Tatta Pani and Raikot.
Due to landslides in Gilgit-Baltistan, the Karakoram Highway was closed, stranding a huge number of visitors and locals.
Heavy equipment was erected on both sides of the Karakoram to clear the route, but landslides hampered repair efforts.
Work on reopening the blocked sections of the Karakoram Highway began early Thursday morning, according to the GB Home Department.
According to them, the Disaster Management Authority and the FWO worked around the clock to restore the Gilgit-Astore Road, and all modes of traffic were back on the road by Thursday afternoon.
The road would be reopened shortly if there is no additional rain or landslides, according to the GB home department, with FWO, NHA, and district police overseeing restoration work on the area.
Tourists were advised to stay in Chilas until the roads were reopened.
