LONDON — November 19, 2025: Kate Winslet is challenging long-standing beauty stereotypes, saying women are “conditioned” to fear aging even though growing older has helped her feel more confident and grounded than ever. Speaking on the How to Fail with Elizabeth Day podcast, the 50-year-old actress said turning 40 reshaped her relationship with her body, and she now embraces her age with pride.
“I’m great with it. I think I look flipping amazing,” she said, adding that society teaches women to believe they lose value as they grow older. Winslet noted that many women fear menopause and physical changes, but insisted these ideas are rooted in conditioning rather than reality.

Winslet explained that her approach to fitness is focused on health and strength, not aesthetics. She wants to remain active, able to hike for hours, swim in cold water, carry her luggage, and keep up with her son. Physical stamina, she said, is essential for the demands of her acting work.
Reflecting on the height of her fame, Winslet recalled facing harsh scrutiny from the British press after Titanic’s release, saying she felt “bullied” by constant criticism of her body. She also revealed that her agent once received frequent calls asking about her weight. Despite this, she now views aging as liberating, describing it as a transition into greater confidence and self-acceptance that she hopes more women will embrace.
