The controversy triggered by actor Kangana Ranaut’s tweet on Mumbai, escalated further on Friday taking a political turn. The BJP, the NCP, the Congress and the Shiv Sena slammed the actor for drawing such comparison, which they said was unbecoming and disrespectful of the Maratha people.On the other hand, Kangana Ranaut claimed that “many people [are] threatening her” ahead of her visit to Mumbai on September 9. In response, the actor said, “Kisi ke baap mein himmat hai to rok le (if anyone’s father has the guts to stop me, then try it).”

She said Maharashtra is not someone’s father’s property.In a series of tweets, Kangana Ranaut targeted those criticising her for recent posts on Twitter, saying, “Maharashtra belongs to only those who have strengthened the Maratha pride and I can say with confidence that I am a Maratha.”

Meanwhile, the National Commission of Women (NCW) has taken a suo motu cognisance of Kangana Ranaut’s claims of receiving threats and demanded immediate arrest of a Shiv Sena MLA.On Thursday, Kangana Ranaut had accused Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut of openly threatening her against returning to Mumbai. “Sanjay Raut Shiv Sena leader has given me an open threat and asked me not to come back to Mumbai after Aazadi graffitis in Mumbai streets and now open threats, why Mumbai is feeling like Pakistani azaad Kashmir ?” Kangana Ranaut said in a tweet.
