KPITB launches Women Empowerment through Digital Skills

Peshawar, July 10 (Online Int’l): KPITB launched “Women Empowerment through Digital Skills” to equip the females of the province.
Advisor to Chief Minister of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa for Information Technology and Science and Technology Ziaullah Bangash formally inaugurated the “Women Empowerment through Digital Skills” project of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB) in Peshawar on Friday.
The project aims to ensure women’s inclusion in the digital economy under the KP Youth Employment Program (KPYEP), an initiative of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Information & Technology Board (KPITB). The program is a sub-component of “Digital Jobs in KP” which is funded by a Multi-Donor Trust Fund and administered by The World Bank. DEMO & Tech Valley Pakistan are jointly implementing this capacity-building project.
Under the ‘Women Empowerment through Digital Skills’ 3000 women will be trained across the seven divisions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on employable digital skills.
Advisor to Chief Minister of KP for Information Technology, Science and Technology Ziaullah Bangash was the chief guest of the inaugural ceremony.
Managing Director KPITB Dr. Shahbaz Khan, Director KPITB Asim Jamshid, representative of World Bank and MDTF, CEO Tech Valley Umar Farooq, officials from DEMO, female members of Provincial Assembly and other officials attended the event.
While addressing the audience Ziaullah Khan Bangash praised the initiative and appealed the youth (women) to participate in the training program. He said that it is a rich opportunity for the females. They can boost their abilities and utilise them in the industry of Information, Science and Technology. On the inaugural occasion, Umar Farooq, the CEO of Tech Valley expressed that from “Women Empowerment through Digital Skills Program” the certified women will be able to earn money through online platforms while working from the comfort of their homes. He added that “a much higher percentage of women will be getting employed by our potential partners and starting their own businesses later on.”
Dr. Shahbaz Khan, MD KPITB, said that the provincial government is determined to provide digital skills to the youth. He added that under the project ‘Digital Jobs in KP’, KPITB is keen to create maximum jobs and skill development opportunities for the youth of the province. He further said that through these initiatives the provincial government is setting a road map to achieve the goal of a xDigital Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
