PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) government has increased the price of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Peshawar travel card by 150%.
According to the TransPeshawar spokesperson, the price of BRT bus travel card has been increased from Rs 100 to Rs 250 but no change has been made in the balance of Rs 100 of travel card.
More than 450,000 travel cards were distributed free of cost at the launch of the BRT service, but the card was priced at Rs 100, which was being provided to customers in the form of a balance, added the spokesperson.
It may be recalled that the transport project in Peshawar was started by former Chief Minister KPK Pervez Khattak during the last PTI government which could not be completed despite several dates.
The project, which started in October 2017, was claimed by the KPK government to be completed within six months. The cost of the project was estimated at Rs 49 billion, but the project cost more than Rs 71 billion.
