In recent years, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has invested heavily in sports to allow better opportunities for its youth as part of Vision 2030, with a special focus on female athletes.

British newspaper The Telegraph reported that approximately 330,000 female athletes are registered in Saudi Arabia. The report further showed that an increase of 195 percent in professional female players had been recorded in the country since 2021.

It is pertinent to note that last year, the IMF (International Monetary Fund) said youth development had been halved to almost 16.8 percent in 2022, with female participation reaching thirty-six percent – that resulted in Saudi Arabia meeting its expected target of thirty percent under the government’s Vision 2030 reform agenda.
