Lahore High Court: New Chief Justice appointed

Islamabad, 29th Feb: According to the reports of Baaghi TV, the President of Pakistan, Arif Ali Alvi has appointed a Senior Puisne Judge of Lahore High Court, Mr Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan as the new Chief Justice of Lahore High Court.

As per the sources, the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP), recommended the name of Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan as the new Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court. The meeting for appointing the senior judges of the superior court, was held at the Supreme Court under the supervision of the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Gulzar Ahmed Khan.

It is to be mentioned that the current Chief Justice of Lahore High Court, Mr Mamoon Rashid Sheikh, is going to retire on the 18th of March, who took oath on the 2nd of Jan 2020, for a short period of two months and eighteen days.

JCP referred Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan’s name to the Parliament and the President made the announcement and selected him as the new Chief Justice of Lahore High Court effective from the 19th of March 2020.
