LHC issues transfer orders of 7 D&S judges

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered the judges of the lower judiciary to abstain from unnecessary usage of social media.

Following the approval of the Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court, Ameer Bhatti, a letter has been sent to the judges of the district judiciary asking them to refrain from using social media platforms. All judges of the lower judiciary are forbidden to join non-governmental WhatsApp groups.

The letter further said that the judicial prestige is being tarnished due to some elements in district judiciary so judicial officers should limit their social media usage, keeping their private life away from their professional life. District court judges should use only official WhatsApp groups. Sharing information in non-official WhatsApp groups will result in action being taken against the judges. The judges of the district judiciary will be bound to correspond through the concerned Sessions Judge and the Registrar of the High Court.

The letter from the Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court also hinted at disciplinary action against the judges who did not comply with the orders.
