President Arif Alvi met with caretaker Law Minister Ahmed Irfan in which they discussed the date of general elections in the country. According to the Ministry of Law, the supervising law ministers of the four provinces participated in the meeting regarding the general elections in the country.

According to the spokesperson of the Ministry of Law, Punjab’s caretaker law minister Kunwar Dilshad, Sindh caretaker law minister Muhammad Umar Soomro, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa caretaker law minister Arshad Hussain Shah and Balochistan caretaker law minister Amanullah Kunrani attended the meeting.

The spokesperson said that the government’s determination to ensure free, fair and transparent elections was highlighted in the meeting and it was said that the provisions of the constitution are seen in the overall scheme of the constitution and not separately.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Law says that the elections of national and provincial assemblies should be held on the same day across the country, The Election Commission is responsible for clean and transparent elections.

According to the Ministry of Law, the Election Commission is an independent constitutional institution, all institutions should respect the authority of the Election Commission in determining the constituencies and election schedule.

On the other hand, sources say that caretaker law minister Ahmed Irfan met President Arif Alvi in which the date of general elections in the country was discussed.

According to the sources, the caretaker law minister Ahmed Irfan presented the position of the caretaker law ministers regarding the date of elections before the President.
