Baaghi TV: Lahore High Court (LHC) gives major order in regards to graves and other items upon death of a person.

Lahore High Court (LHC) orders free burial of dead bodies in cemeteries across Punjab.

The free burial in cemeteries shall be starting next year, with the LHC stating that burials will be the responsibility of the Endowment Department. An allocation of 4,000 acres of land for cemeteries has been ordered all over Lahore with the Secretary Local Government submitting a notification to the members of Board of Revenue for land allotment. Chief Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan ordered the government of Punjab to issue supplementary grants for the construction of cemeteries, issuing an 8-page written verdict, with the court making Hadith and international law a part of the decision.

In a written decision by the Lahore High Court, it was stated that the citizen pays taxes to the government by making purchasing goods all his life. Even after death, money is taken from him in the name of grave and other items. As such, it is the responsibility of the government to amend the law by lowering the cost of burial of the concerned citizen with the administration also providing free transportation. Model cemeteries are to be set up at an immediate moment in 4 cities of Punjab and educated people should be recruited based on merit in the City Graveyard Authority.
