Lockdown: Federal Minister makes major announcement

Lahore (27th April, 2020): Federal Minister, Hamad Azhar, makes major announcement in a press conference for small businesses.

According to a report by Baaghi TV, Federal Minister for Industry Hamad Azhar, while addressing a press conference in Islamabad, said that the ECC had approved two packages related to industry, business and jobs, including Rs. 75 billion for the unemployed. The package, which includes Rs. 4 million to Rs. 6 million, will be distributed under the Ehsas Kifalat program.

The Ministry of Industry and Ehsas Program will jointly launch the portal, on which, low-income and unemployed people will be able to register, for which the government has allocated Rs. 75 billion. They are also hoping to launch a relief package for small businesses.

Azhar said that two packages related to industry, business, jobs were approved by ECC, and will be presented to the Federal Cabinet for approval tomorrow, i.e. 28th April, 2020. The Ehsas Program and the Ministry of Industry and Production will launch the portal and people who are currently unemployed should register themselves on the portal.

Hamad Azhar further said that after the approval of the Cabinet, the details of the package will be posted on the website. Under the package, the government will also give a 3-month bill to the small business owners. He added that the same will also apply to Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir because small businesses have been severely affected by the nation-wide lockdown.

The Federal Minister further said that small shopkeepers in Karachi will also benefit from this, as the Ministry of Finance will provide funds to these institutions, 3.5 million small business people will benefit from the package, small business has been affected due to the lockdown.
