According to a foreign news agency, Deputy High Court Judge Peter Knox has issued orders to freeze Altaf Hussain’s assets. Frozen properties include Abbey View House, High View Gardens First House, White Church Lane First House, Brookfield Avenue House, High View Gardens Second House, White Church Lane Second House and MQM’s first floor office Elizabeth House.

Under court orders, the MQM leader and his associates may remain in these properties until the outcome of the lawsuit is announced. However, they cannot be sold.

The lawsuit has been filed by MQM Pakistan in favor of the assets, which state that the assets belong to them. The ownership of these assets is more than fifteen million pounds i.e. about 3 billion rupees. According to reports, the trial is likely to take a few months.

Earlier, on September 2, a court had ordered a fine on Altaf Hussain. A British court has ordered Altaf Hussain to pay a fine of more than Rs 4 billion. It is further stated that Altaf Hussain did not pay any tax despite being a British citizen from 1995 to 2015.
