Macron holds talks with key Gulf ally Abu Dhabi crown prince
French President Emmanuel Macron and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan have met in France where the two countries pledged to fight “extremism and terrorism” and increase cooperation in the areas of “security and defense”.
According to the details, Mohamed bin Zayed, one of Paris’ closest allies in the Middle East region, and Emmanuel Macron also stressed the need to respect “the rights of women and girls, as well as minorities”.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed tweeted after the talks: “I was pleased to meet with President Emmanuel Macron in Paris today, where we discussed our shared interest in deepening the strong and longstanding strategic ties between the UAE and France, as well as regional and international developments.”

Some analysts believe that both French President Macron and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed have reservations about Islamist political parties in the Middle East.
