Maheen Ghani: Victim or culprit in a 'Toxic' relationship?

Lahore, (10th March, 2020): Maheen Ghani, the ex-wife of Shahbaz Taseer, a businessman and son of former Governor Punjab, Salman Taseer (late), lately disclosed on social networking sites, about her divorce from long-time husband.

During December of 2019, Maheen Ghani disclosed on her Instagram [and Twitter] account about getting a divorce from her husband, which as per reports of Baaghi TV is not true. The couple is reportedly still married and although she has the right to divorce yet she refuses and continues to ask for money from a man for whom she had allegedly waited for five years, the period when Shahbaz Taseer had been abducted shortly after his father’s death [the former Governor had been shot dead by his own security guard as reported at the time].

The couple had a daughter soon after his safe return, and the exciting news of the happy reunion with his family had been shared all over by media sources, but then the devastating news of their split spread on social media a short while later.

Maheen Ghani has reportedly approached the Courts of Law and filed a case against her husband. According to her allegations, she had been unjustly expelled from the house of her former husband and now she wants him to help her financially so that she may support their child, yet it was Shahbaz Taseer who first went to court saying his wife and her father are forcefully not letting him meet his minor child, according to reports of Baaghi TV.

Ghani further claims to the entitlement of hundreds of thousands of Pakistani rupees monthly from Shahbaz Taseer. However, on the 7th of March 2020, after hearing the matter a local family court has denied Ghani the entire claim to her desired entitlement in form of any monthly payments from Shahbaz Taseer.

Reportedly, Ghani waited for such [nearly five years] a long period of time, but why now after “divorce”, has she forgotten her struggle? If she was walking away from a toxic relationship, she should not want anything from the husband. Not even money to raise the child which is religiously the daughters right and the father has willingly offered. The intentions of Maheen Ghani are pretty clear at this point.

The court has also ruled out her stance on being expelled from his house. Further questions have been raised as to whether Maheen Ghani has filed the present case against Shahbaz Taseer with mala fide intentions and ulterior motives.

The allegations made by Ghani will also be investigated and reviewed to consider if the same is false, vexatious and baseless, thus making Maheen Ghani liable to pay special costs.

On the other hand, due to the voluntary offer by Shahbaz Taseer, the local court has decided to fix a monthly allowance for the upkeep and welfare of his daughter whom he shares with his ex namely, Maheen Ghani, because he wants only the best possible facilities for his child.

Moreover, as disclosed by Shehbaz Taseer, his ex-wife has forcefully denied him permission to meet his daughter for 3 months. If the above allegations against Maheen Ghani are accurate then she has no claims to ask for support from the Court because it is she who is keeping an innocent child away from a loving father.

Although a woman’s account of abuse cannot be entirely overlooked, Maheen Ghani needs to come up with better cases against her former husband because disrespect goes both ways and a husband and wife fighting/arguing and not getting along cannot be considered abuse. Her social media pages are thriving with the image of a brave, independent woman. A loyal woman who had been above all else a good wife and the best mother.

If such accounts of her personality are to be considered then Maheen Ghani need not even depend on any money from her former spouse [who allegedly kept her in a toxic relationship, as claimed by Ghani] on a show in May of 2019 when she said that her husband is the same person he was before his kidnapping. If this statement is to be taken at face value, then the question arises, why wait for a toxic person?

True to her character, she should set an example of just how good a mother she is by raising her daughter without financial support from Taseer [something the young Taseer would never allow as I mentioned he willingly offered 100,000 PKR as child support]. Instead of seeking legal help for need of money, perhaps she should seek legal help for something else instead?

For considering how hardworking, earnest and loyal a woman she is as per the image she has designed for herself in her virtual presence, Maheen Ghani is a one-woman army and Shahbaz is better off keeping his money as well as his reputation.

You are horrible human beings. Why in the world would she deny her Islamic right for maintenance from this man for her child? What’s wrong with you? He fathered the child, it’s his responsibility, it has nothing to do with Maheen Ghani

Maheen has every right to request for child support.
And why should someone live with a person whose toxic.
I understand the importance of being independent, but every parents responsibility is to give their child the best upbringing. Why should Maheen pay all by herself!
And I’m sorry , for a top lifestyle and making your child live the best lifestyle in Pakistan with the best schools 100,000 pkr is not enough, it’s more like a slap in the face.
This article is absolutely ridiculous and you are discriminating women.
I don’t know Maheen or her husband or take any sides , but this article Is literally attacking a woman for not being independent enough, who are you to discriminate, you have no idea what torture someone has been through.
If a woman has written this article – shame on you. One day this situation might happen to you. So you need to watch yourself.
If a man has written this article – Shame on you for being so inhumane.

It’s a shame this article exists in 2021. When the Prophet pbuh has already decided rights for us 1400 years ago. Full of misogyny!
