MARDAN, JULY 31 (Online Int’l): Mardan police has finalised preparations for August 4th Police Martyrs Day in the district. The SOPs will be strictly followed in the ceremonies held on police martyrs day and week, a senior police officer said.

Talking to The News, District Police Officer (DPO) Dr. Zahidullah Khan said that August’s first week is observed as martyrs week and 4th August as police martyrs day. He added that on this day, 108 police officials and jawans were martyred including 2 DSPs, 2 Inspectors, 13 SIs, 15 ASIs, 11 head constables and 65 constables while 106 police officers and jawans were injured including 3 inspectors, 10 SIs, 12 ASIs, 10 head constables and 71 constables in the district.

He added that police martyrs are valuable assets of the police department and heroes of the whole nation and the nation will never forget their sacrifices. Zahidullah added that police department is proud of its martyrs and their families are our families and we cannot forget them.

He added that due to COVID19 the police martyrs week will be observed differently. He added that the SOPs will be strictly followed during the function and ceremonies. He added that all the ceremonies have been arranged to commemorate the martyrs in a grand manner and in the memory of the martyred police personnel.  He added that August 4th will be fully celebrated as Police Martyrs’ Day to pay homage to the martyrs. He added that on 4th August early in the morning Quran Khwani will be held for the martyred police cops at the police line.

The police Martyrs Day will be observed with prayers, blood donation camps and ceremonies at police line and other different places. He added that a camp will be set up at Mira Khan Tupo Chowk from the beginning of the week.  Zahidullah Khan added that he along with the Regional Police Officer will visit the memorial of the martyrs at the police line and will lay floral wreath and offer prayers.
