Lahore, 10th November: The Punjab Marriage Hall Association and the Punjab Caterers Association have rejected the government’s latest decision to close the wedding hall from November 20 to January 31 and demanded its immediate withdrawal, otherwise it will not be implemented.
Addressing the emergency press conference, Chief Patron Mr Mian Ilyas, President Khalid, Secretary Rad Tariq Islam, Chairman Qamar Javed Bala, Senior Vice President Malik, Vice President Malik Jahangir, Chairman Committees Shaid Asail, President Ashfaq and other officials said that the wedding halls were first closed during the lockdown on March 13, and got opened on September 15, 2020.
We demand from the Prime Minister, Chief Justice of Pakistan, Chief of Army Staff to protect our business and provide halal employment for our children. We are allowed to perform a small number of functions under the SOPs.
Furthermore, no marriage hall in Punjab should be closed for non-compliance with SOPs. We will hold press conferences in all districts of Punjab on Wednesday to reject these orders. If the government does not accept our demands, our employees will be on the streets, blocking the roads and allowing sit-ins.
Under no circumstances will we allow wedding halls to close from November 20 and we will do our best to do so. Punjab Marriage Hall Association has expressed no confidence in the qualifications of Federal Minister Asad Umar and demanded his resignation.
