Massive explosion at Beirut Port
Beirut, 4th August 2020: A huge blast has rocked downtown Beirut, Lebanon on Tuesday.
According to reports from international media, a massive blast in Beirut port took place today damaging buildings and blowing out windows and doors as a giant mushroom cloud rose above the capital.
Ship carrying fireworks exploded in Beirut
An Associated Press photographer near the port saw people lying injured on the ground, and hospitals called for blood donations, but exact casualties were not immediately known.

Miles away from the blast, windows were shattered, balconies were knocked down, and ceilings got collapsed.

The cause of the blast is still not known. The blast comes amid rising tensions between Israel and the militant Hezbollah group along Lebanon’s southern border.

Some local TV stations reported the blast was at Beirut’s port inside an area where fireworks were stored.
