#MeToo: Another win for Ali Zafar, Mahwash Ajaz issues apology

Mahwash Ajaz, a noteworthy feminist and writer, has publicly apologized to Ali Zafar and his family on social media for choosing the wrong side and getting onto a bandwagon.

According to the details, Mahwash Ajaz, one of the foremost voices for #MeToo in Pakistan and a staunch supporter of Meesha Shafi in her legal battle for sexual harassment against Ali Zafar, has shocked many with her recent tweets.

Just a day ago, Mahwash took to her Twitter and tweeted out an apology to Ali Zafar. Not only that, she even said that she had been misguided and betrayed. In the series of Tweets, Mahwash put her entire story that how she was lied to and misguided by people who wanted to misuse the #MeToo movement targeting an innocent man. She also said that after doing that they did the same to her and started targeting and bully her.

Ali Zafar’s harassment case has been prolonging for more than two year now since musician, Meesha Shafi has accused him of harassment. Yesterday, the cultural critic, Mahwash Ajaz, who was previously quite vocal in lending her support to Meesha Shafi in her harassment charges against Ali Zafar, has now retracted from her stance and has apologized to Ali Zafar.

“This is why I think @AliZafarsays has been targeted maliciously, criminally and in a disgusting, defamatory way,” the feminist activist said in her tweet.

She further said that “#AliZafar has been targeted b/c he is an easy target. He has been used by certain fauxtivists here who do not have the courage to come clean about their own dirty laundry but don’t worry. This is a jungle. And the same sword you are living by, will come at you too.”

In another tweet she continued to discuss the criminal procedure that had been initiated against account(s) that threatened Ali Zafar before his movie ‘Teefa in Trouble’ was about to be released.

Mahwash Ajaz is facing a colossal amount of criticism and created a major uproar amongst the netizens. While some lauded the activist for being brave enough to realize her mistake and apologize, some criticized her for backtracking on her stance and for ridiculing the cause of #MeToo.

Ali Zafar, Meesha Shafi Development in Defamation Case

Mahwash Ajaz has taken a very courageous step by accepting and apologizing for her mistake and exposing the reality behind the false and evil allegations by Meesha Shafi. Moreover, she said that I have respect for the Pakistani rock star and his wife who have faced these ‘insane two years’.

Furthermore, the writer said that she had been manipulated two years ago. However, Mahwash has taken a very brave step and revealed the entire story in her tweets. In response to the backlash, she asked people not to jump to conclusions and malign others on social media.

The two Pakistani singers had made headline earlier in 2018 when Meesha Shafi had allegedly accused him of harassment. As a result, Zafar has accused Shafi of running a false campaign to publicly malign him through fake accounts so his reputation and career can be tarnished.
