Milli Yakjehti Council holds government responsible for Tahaffuz-e-Bunyad-e-Islam Bill controversy

Lahore, August 15 (Online Int’l): The Milli Yakjehti Council has held the government responsible for the controversy on Tahaffuz-e-Bunyad-e-Islam Bill, stating the rulers have played a dangerous game to create differences among the followers of different schools of Islamic thought.

At a meeting of the MYC, a conglomerate of different religious parties, which held at Mansoora on Saturday under the chair of Jamaat-e-Islami Deputy Emir Liaqat Baloch, a consensus was developed among the leaders that Islamic scholars should play an active role to promote religious harmony in the country to counter the designs of the secular lobbies.

The MYC, on occasion, also formed a committee for the purpose besides it emphasized on the government to immediately call a meeting of the Ahle Sunnat and Shia scholars to develop consensus on the different clauses of the bill.

The MYC appealed to the nation not to forget their duty to keep the environment peaceful during the holy month of Muharram.

Through a resolution, the MYC condemned the silence of international community on gross human rights abuses in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. It welcomed the government step to honor Hurriat leader Syed Ali Gilani with Nishan-e-Pakistan.

Expressing grave concern on the UAE decision to normalize diplomatic relation with Israel, the MYC called for the need of an emergency session of the OIC to push the gulf country to review its decision. It said that no Islamic country should backstab the Palestinian Muslims and Ummah’s united cause to free Qibla-e-Awal from Zionist regime.

It also decided to mark August 16 as Palestine Day. The MYC condemned the activities of Qadyanis, asking the government to make strict check on them. It demanded the government call a meeting of national leadership to develop consensus on different issues facing the country.

Pir Haroon Gilani, Syed Ziaullah Bukhari, Hafiz Zubair Zaheer, Zahid Qasmi, Allama Arif Wahidi, Hafiz Kazim Raza, Abdul Ghaffar Ropri, Maulana Abdul Malik and others attended the meeting.
