The victim of the Greater Iqbal Park incident, wherein a girl and her companions were assaulted by hundreds of men in a gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan, has been contacted by the Punjab Government spokesman Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chauhan. 

The spokesman has assured the victim of full cooperation, as per the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar. All criminals involved in the crime would be penalized to the full extent of the law, he stated, and assurances were given that the government was with her on this and would fully cooperate.

It is to be noted that on 14th August, as part of Independence Day celebrations, a large gathering of people collected at the Greater Iqbal Park. According to reports, a girl and her companions were making a Tiktok video when they were assaulted by 300 to 400 men, to the point where the girl’s clothes were torn and she kept being thrown in the air. The group tried to escape the mob but to no avail. A number of items were also stolen from them.

A First Information Report (FIR) was lodged at the Lorry Adda police station by the victim, and as such, the Lahore Police has registered a case against hundreds of unidentified persons. Legal action shall be taken against them.
