ML-1 Project to Open New Avenues of Development: Chinese ambassador

ISLAMABAD, August 07 (Online Int’l): Chinese ambassador in Pakistan Yao Jang has met railway minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad and congratulated him on the approval of Pakistan‘s historical railway project ML-1 under CPEC.
Chairman Railways Habib ur Rehman Gilani was also present on the occasion. Chinese ambassador also praised the government of Pakistan, doctors and medical staff on containing the coronavirus epidemic in relatively little time.
He held that Pakistan historical railway project ML-1 will further fortify the ties between Pakistan and China besides opening new avenues of development. State of the art travelling facilities will become available to the people. It will bring about a travelling revolution.
Sheikh Rashid Ahmad thanked Chinese ambassador saying ML-1 is a first step towards a modern railway. It will ensure economic development in Pakistan. This project is a flagship program of the sitting government, he added. This is the largest ever development program of Pakistan. It will cost 6.8 billion US dollars. A new fastest 1872 kilometres track will be laid from Karachi to Peshawar.
He pointed out this project will create job opportunities for 115,000 people in the country.
