Mobile Companies License Renewal Case: Court Order

Hearing in Islamabad High Court (IHC) for renewing licenses of mobile phone companies took place on Wednesday (today).
According to the report of Baaghi TV, IHC ordered two private mobile companies to submit at least half of the license fee (50%) within two weeks. The court further said that the two companies should deposit at least Rs. 36 billion rupees each in the given time period.
Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) had fixed a fee of Rs. 72 billion for the license renewal. Mobile companies appealed against the PTA decision in the Islamabad High Court, on which the court ordered both companies to submit half the license fee as a guarantee till final decision of the case.
According to IHC, the case will not proceed unless or until half of the license fee is submitted. The case was adjourned till next month.
